Week 1 Progress

Friday, August 27th, 2010: Ryan and I went to settlement on this 2,200 sf house just outside Annapolis.  It's a 4 bedroom, 2.5 bath house that we are planning on fixing up and flipping.  While I earn the moola [:)], Ryan and my Dad will be slaving away fixing up the house.  Prior to settling, we ordered our kitchen appliances, bathroom tile, washer and dryer and got several quotes to remove trees. We moved in Friday night and by Saturday we started removing the wallpaper in the kitchen to prepare for the appliances to arrive.

WE DID IT!
Exterior-Before Settlement
Sunday, August 29th:  Removed existing cabinets and trim, removed faux beams and took down 5 layers of wallpaper.

Wednesday, September 1st:   Bought materials, installed knee wall in living room leading downstairs and some other stuff. . . but we can't remember.

Knee Wall and the Proud Carpenter
Thursday, September 2nd: Patched hole in ceiling, re-routed ac duct in kitchen floor to ceiling of 3rd bedroom ceiling, pulled thousands, and that is no exaggeration, of nails and staples out of the floor to prepare it for the cement board.

Friday, September 3rd:  Framed out doorway from kitchen into pantry, continued pulling up staples, started to spackle walls and celebrated Frank's 7th birthday.  Pete joined us for the weekend to help with the house.

Saturday, September 4th:  Laid cement board, ordered kitchen cabinets, and finished weatherproofing and dry-walling where the exterior door use to be.  Ryan (almost) cut his finger off so work stops for the night.

Sunday, September 5th:  Finished installing cement board in kitchen, purchased and planted flower for the front yard, purchased kitchen tile, spackled kitchen walls and removed shelves in downstairs 4th bedroom.

Kitchen Ready for Tiling
It's only been a week but we've already come a long way.  We've got all kinds of cuts and blisters on our hand but its well worth it.  I forced Ryan to take the picture below.  He absolutely wanted no part of it but he did it anyway. . . he's a keeper. :)
